With the ‘Extract Info from Records’ feature, you can easily extract details found in any confirmed/saved Record, and copy them – in just one click – into the relevant profile in your family tree.
This feature conveniently displays the information found in the historical record and compares it to the information in your tree, side-by-side. It highlights information in the record that is new or better than the corresponding information in your tree, which refers to cases where the historical record contains more elaborate information than in your tree.
In the ‘Extract Info’ page click the arrow buttons to extract the information you want into your family tree:
If you would like to select specific pieces of information to extract and save to your tree, use thebuttons to take information from the other family tree into your tree.
To undo the action, simply click on the button again.
The ‘IMPROVED’ label indicates information that you partially have, to which complementary information has been found in the matching tree.
The ‘DIFFERENT’ label indicates information that is different in the matching tree than in yours (see example below).
You can also add new individuals to your tree from the records you received if no corresponding individuals were found in your tree. For more details read the following FAQ: How do I add new family tree profiles from historical records?
Please note, that if you choose to extract all, it will extract the information to all existing persons shown in the list and it will also create new profiles for persons that are not yet in your tree – for further questions about this, please read the following FAQ: How do I add new family tree profiles from historical records?
Once you’ve extracted all the information of your choice, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Save to tree’.
